ADULT TOTAL JOINT RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY FELLOWSHIPS
The OrthoCarolina Joint Replacement Fellowship provides a comprehensive year of training in joint replacement surgery, with an emphasis on revision surgery of the hip and knee. The program offers the opportunity to participate in both clinical and basic scientific research. The program consists of preoperative clinical evaluations, a high-volume surgical experience, postoperative inpatient and long-term follow-up care.
Special emphasis will be placed on revision hip and knee surgery as well as computer-aided surgery. Exposure to shoulder arthroplasty, hip arthroscopy and alternative bearings are included in the fellowship. OrthoCarolina’s diverse faculty provides the fellows with a well-rounded surgical experience.
Educational conferences include a weekly preoperative templating conference and a monthly journal club.
With the completion of this training, the fellow will have a thorough understanding of the concepts involved in total joint arthroplasty as well as surgical expertise in both primary and revision joint replacement surgery. The fellow will also be exposed to a high-volume hip arthroscopy practice. The fellow will have a good understanding of the current literature involving joint replacements and is encouraged to complete a research project suitable for publication in a peer-reviewed journal.
The OrthoCarolina Joint Replacement Fellowship is located at the OrthoCarolina Hip & Knee Center. Surgery is performed at Presbyterian-Orthopaedic Hospital in Charlotte, NC.
Three fellowship positions are available for orthopedic surgeons who have completed an approved orthopedic residency-training program.
