Dr. Boatright joined Miller Orthopaedic Clinic (now OrthoCarolina) in 1974 after serving two years at the Naval Regional Medical Center in Charleston, SC. A specialist in hand and elbow surgery, he and his associate, Dr. Richard Peindl, share a patent for their invention of an apparatus that measures the abduction strength of a patient's thumb.
Dr. Boatright is a frequently published author and is widely considered to be an authority on thumb mobility and carpal tunnel syndrome. He currently serves as chief of hand service for the department of orthopaedic surgery at Carolinas Medical Center and is an active staff member at all area hospitals.
