Dr. Fehring has been named the 2010 Physician of the Year at Presbyterian-Orthopaedic Hospital.
Dr. Fehring is a member of the Hip Society. Hip Society members are selected for their excellence in hip research. There are only 100 members worldwide. He is the only member from the Charlotte area.
Dr. Fehring is also a member of the Knee Society. Knee Society members are selected for their excellence in knee research. There are only 100 members worldwide.
Only 40 surgeons in the world are members of both societies.
Dr. Fehring has published over 70 scientific articles and has given more than 425 lectures to other orthopedic surgeons on topics related to hip and knee replacement.
Each year the Knee Society gives out three different awards for excellence in knee research. In 2010, Dr. Fehring and his OrthoCarolina partner Dr. Springer won two of the three awards. Dr. Fehring has now won five of these awards in his career.
Dr. Fehring travels to Nicaragua on his annual medical mission to teach hip and knee replacement to Nicaraguan orthopaedic surgeons.
